In the original mortal kombat games, she was pretty dark.. Dark enough that she was distinctly "black", even in well-lit environments lol. But, after doing a quick google search, I noticed her design changed over the years, making her lighter skinned.

TheTragicNightmare definitely has a point, but there's nothing the artist could do about it if their employer wanted Jade to be lighter skinned.
